The City of Independence has been offered a grant of $625,683 from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Energize Missouri Housing Initiative which is funded through the Department of Energy's ARRA Weatherization Assistance Program.  These funds will provide for residential energy efficiency improvements in the Fairmount-Carlisle 353 Redevelopment Area and for projects that will leverage other public and private investments.  The grant period began July 1, 2010 and all funds must be expended by March 2012.
